Fluid Bed Dryer

The fluid bed dryer is a widely used industrial drying device that achieves the drying process by fluidizing materials under the influence of hot air flow. This drying method features fast drying speed, high thermal efficiency, and easy operation. It is suitable for drying various materials and for drying after granulation. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is mainly used for drying tablets, capsules, pharmaceutical raw materials, and starch granules during production.

Fluid Bed Dryer GFG Series-5

Working Principle of the Fluid Bed Dryer:

The materials to be dried are placed into the fluidized bed. External air is filtered to create clean air, which is then heated with steam to the required temperature. The hot air enters the lower part of the machine through a controlled air valve, passing through the mesh that holds the product, thus lifting the product into the fluidized bed.

The materials circulate in a fluidized state, with hot air diffusing moisture from the inside to the surface. Moisture continuously evaporates and is carried away by the hot air. The bag filter integrated into the filtration chamber retains most suspended product particles. This process is repeated until the materials are thoroughly dried.

Features of the Fluid Bed Dryer:

Features a round container design with no dead corners and mirror polishing, facilitating operation, disassembly, and cleaning in line with GMP requirements.

Combines mixing, granulation, and drying in one container, reducing processes and complying with GMP standards.

Operates in a closed container, preventing dust emissions and improving the working environment. The filter bag uses anti-static material, enhancing operational safety.

The binder atomizer employs a multi-fluid nozzle, ensuring uniform atomization and high product quality.

Utilizes cylinder lifting seals, ensuring reliable sealing and operating under negative pressure.

Functions of the Fluid Bed Dryer:

Mixing: Various materials can be fluidized within the bed, allowing for rapid mixing.

Drying: When powders or granules are fluidized, their surfaces fully contact the air. When heated, moisture diffuses to the surface and is evaporated and exhausted, thoroughly drying the materials.

Operation Sequence of the Fluid Bed Dryer:

  1. Remove the loading container from the main unit using a trolley and add materials.
  2. Push the loaded container back into the main unit, ensuring it connects properly. Check for airtightness before starting the drying process.
  3. Set the temperature of the internal heating air using the steam heater.
  4. Manually open the intake air valve 80%. This valve controls the air volume and the height of the fluidized bed.
  5. The drying is complete when the exhaust temperature reaches the set point.
  6. The bags rise, and the control valve opens.

Structural Composition of the Fluid Bed Dryer:

  • Machine Tower: The tower consists of sections, air seals, hydraulic cylinders, product containers, filtration chambers, and bag filters.
  • Filtration Chamber: Users can connect external air pipes based on installation location; the external air interface is controlled by an exhaust valve. The intake pipe for the fan is usually connected to the intake valve. This should be stopped before equipment startup. The intake filter includes pre-filters, medium-efficiency, and high-efficiency filters, purifying the air to a Class 300,000 level.
  • Exhaust Fan: This unit provides the power to fluidize the materials in the container. The fan’s airflow is designed individually for each unit.
  • Control Cabinet: Standard equipment includes pre-detection facilities for intake air temperature and electrical controls.

Safety Devices and Recommendations:

  1. Ensure the machine tower is well-sealed before starting the machine and confirm that the exhaust fan is running before starting the mixing motor.
  2. The fan and all other functions can only start when the product container is in place. The mixing motor must be stopped before the exhaust fan stops.
  3. The heater can only be activated after the exhaust fan starts!

Hot Air Circulating Oven CTC Series 3

CTC Series Hot Air Circulation Oven is a heating and drying device.
It uses the hot air circulation system to create distributed hot air to dry material.  It is mainly applied in the food, pharmaceutical, chemical, and electronics industries.

Working Principle:

The Hot Air Circulation Oven generates hot air through an electric heater or steam heating device. The hot air is driven by a fan to circulate in the oven. It makes the heat on the surface of the materials to be dried. The oven is equipped with a precise temperature control system, it can be set and maintained a constant temperature depending on the materials. It can prevent overheating or uneven heating. During the drying process, moisture is expelled through the exhaust outlet, ensuring the interior environment remains dry, which helps accelerate the drying process and improve efficiency.
